Chub Frank of Bear Lake, PA, the defending and first four-time consecutive Northern Xtreme DirtCar Series (formerly Renegade DirtCar Series) champion on record and 2003 series runner-up Mike Balzano of Parkersburg, WV , the 1989 and 1990 series champion, have been selected as 2004 inductees into the National Dirt Late Model Hall of Fame. Chub was selected in the new "Masters II Category" for active drivers with a minimum of 25 years of racing experience while Balzano was tabbed for the "Sportsman Award" given to the driver who receives the most write-in votes for their assistance, helpfulness and generosity to competing race teams.

"In a way I really haven't had much time to think about it because were so busy over here but it makes feel older than I really am!", stated Chub. "Chubzilla" had a successful season in 2003 driving his Corry Rubber/Corry Laser/Nystrom's Auto Sales/Draime Racing Engines/Rocket Chassis/Carerra Shocks/Pierotti Motorsports/Farr MotorSports Chevrolet Monte Carlo #1*. “It’s been a pretty good year,” commented Frank. “If it wasn’t for the weather we would have had a better year but as far as these honors go it has definitely been a real good year. No one has ever won four in a row and to be elected into the Hall of Fame, that is definitely an honor!”

The NDLMHOF Induction Ceremony for the Class of 2004 will be held in August 2004 at Florence Speedway near Union, KY during the annual ‘North-South 100’ weekend racing festivities.

Chub has also been honored by becoming the first ever dirt short track driver to be the cover story of Dick Berggren's Speedway Illustrated. The cover story of the January 2004 issue titled, "How Chub Wins", was written by Dr. Dick Berggren and includes 16 photos in the over ten page article with comments from former Renegade DirtCar Racing Series president Rick Gross and drivers Steve Francis, Mike Balzano, Rick Aukland and Scott Bloomquist as well as Rocket Chassis co-owner Steve Baker.
