Chub's only Indiana Appearance in 2005

Bear Lake, PA --- Chub Frank and crew headed out of Brushcreek Motorsports Complex in Peebles, OH for night two of a 19-day road trip with the Stacker 2 World of Outlaw Late Model Series that landed them in Indiana for their only 2005 appearance at Tri-State Speedway in Haubstadt, IN, for the $10,000 to win “Armed Forces Day 60”. Chubzilla last raced at Tri-State Speedway a year ago with the “Dirty Dozen” when he unveiled the Lester Buildings sponsorship. “This is a good place to race at,” commented Chub. “The surface is always good, that means you can race on it. That’s all we want. A surface we can race on.”

Chub and his Lester Building Products, Corry Rubber, All Star Performance, Corry Laser, Slavic Corporation, Farr MotorSports, Rocket Chassis Monte Carlo #1* team unloaded with 22 other drivers who signed in for Saturday’s event. Chub qualified the #1* second quick putting Chubzilla on the front row of heat two where Chub started side by side with Steve Francis. At the drop of the green Chub got the lead coming out of turn two and never looked back and won the second heat which transferred him into the dash.

In the dash race Chub ended up finishing fourth behind dash winner Billy Moyer with Steve Casebolt second followed by Dan Schlieper. Chub’s dash finish transferred him to the 4th starting position in Saturday’s “Armed Forces Day 60” at Tri-State Speedway.

On the start of the main event front row starters Moyer and Casebolt went side by side into turn on with Moyer taking the lead while Casebolt and Chub batted for second. A lap three yellow came out for a stalled car and on the restart Chub took second from Casebolt and tried for 57 laps to chase down Moyer to no avail. Moyer went on to win the “Armed Forces Day 60” at Tri-State Speedway with Chub finishing second, Rick Eckert in third, Darrell Lanigan with fourth and last nights winner at Brushcreek Dale McDowell in fifth. The remainder of the top 10 were Clint Smith, Steve Casebolt, Tim McCreadie, Dan Schlieper and Steve Francis.
