“Chub Shines in the Sunshine State” Wins the $10,000.00 at Volusia Speedway!

 Daytona Beach Fla. 2/16/02

 Tonight at Volusia County Speedway Chub won the 50 lap 31^st Winter Nationals. Chub started the dash in the 4^th starting spot and finished 2^nd in the dash and that qualified him to start tonight’s race from the 2^nd position with Kenny Pettyjohn on the pole and Don Oneal & Brian Birkofer in 3^rd and 4^th positions. After a very long 15 nights of racing in Florida The Corry Laser, Corry Rubber, Mark Richard Rocket, Chevrolet Blue Monte Carlo 1* team pulled off the big one at Volusia County Speedway tonight. Chub took the lead from the drop of the green flag start from Pettyjohn and led until the 34^th lap when Wendall Wallace got beside him in traffic and passed Chub for the lead. Then a yellow flag flew for Terry English who suffered a flat tire and that put Wallace back in second, when the green came out Chub took control for the final 16 laps and recorded the win worth $10,000.00. The 1* is now headed home to Bear Lake, Pa.  The DIRT Modified were also there for tonight’s final night of speed week’s 2002 with Tim McCreadie taking the win over Bret Hearn.
