Day Two East Bay Speedway.

The second night of the "26th Winter Nationals." The track was basically back to the old racing surface as years before. 86 cars took to the track for qualifying last night with Chub's Rocket Teammate Rick Eckert recording a 14.376 for the fastest qualifying lap touring the ultra fast facility. Chub was one of the last cars to qualify for the event and ended up 24th. That put the 1* team on the pole of the sixth heat race in which he finished 5th. Chub was now going into the 3rd B-Main of the night. In the B-Main Chub decided to try a little different setup on the car and he finished the B in the 5th position. So now the 1* team had to take a points provisional. At this point Chub told Boom Briggs to change the complete set up on the 1* Corry Laser Rocket Monte Carlo. The new team quickly got together and made all the changes and Chub lined up in 25th position for the 75-lap event. Chub now began his charge thru the field as he did on Monday night except tonight's track surface was a little faster and harder to pass on, Chub ended up the nights event finishing 8th. Avoiding a lot of wrecks, Chub is getting this from the back to the front groove down pretty good. But Chub says that it is getting old fast starting in the back. Everybody's spirits are still very good despite all the work they're doing on the car.  Now its back to East Bay for tonight's UDTRA sanctioned race.
