Bear Lake, PA Chub and the 1* Corry Rubber, Corry Laser, Nystrom's Auto Sales, Draime Racing Engines, Rocket Chassis, Pierotti Motorsports, Farr MotorSports Chevrolet Monte Carlo made the trip Wednesday night to Kentucky for Thursday, the first night of the three-night "North-South" weekend at Florence Speedway in Union, KY. With Thursday night open for practice Chub and Boom had decided to try some experimental things on Thursday and use this testing night to try some new ideas and different shocks and valving.

Then on Friday night over 63 cars were on hand to qualify for the 21st Annual North-South 100 paying $50,000 to win. Chub the 2002 defending North South 100 champion qualified 26th and that put Chub in the 2nd heat starting 5th behind Donnie Moran, Brian Birkhofer, Matt Miller & Don O'Neal. Chub knew he had to go right away on the start, but the leaders bunched up going into turn 1 and Chub got into the back of Matt Miller and shoved the nose piece up and buckled up the hood, but Chub wasn’t about to let that stop him and quickly took over 3rd place from Miller and finished in that position. Chub would now start the 21st North-South 100 in 14th, which was 1 spot better than he started last year when he won this event. When the field took the green for the 100-lap feature, it did not take long for Chub to figure out that he had missed the setup for this racetrack tonight. So when the first caution came out Chub quickly ducked into the pit area and the 1* crew changed the cars setup, and Chub returned to the track now on the tail end of the field.

Chub began to move up thru the field and was running in the top 15 when the cars of Darrel Lanigan & Jerry Rice got together on the back stretch and collected Rick Eckert, Billy Moyer, John Gill, Don O’Neal, and Chub. Chub brought the 1* pit side again for 1 more change and some sheet metal repair and rejoined the field again at the back. When the green reappeared Chub was on the move back towards the front and when the final checkered flag flew on the 100th lap Chub ended his night with another top 10 finish in 7th position behind race winner Dan Schlieper.
