WoO LMS History: Signed as one of original 12 contract drivers when World Racing Group restarted WoO LMS in 2004… First career WoO LMS victory came on April 23, 2004, at Lernerville Speedway in Sarver, Pa.… Finished sixth in ’04 standings with one win to his credit… Improved to fifth in the final ’05 standings, winning three times…
Has fared extremely well in WoO LMS events held in upstate New York, winning at Fulton (’05), Rolling Wheels (’05) and Cayuga County (’06 and ‘07)… Has twice run series events at his “home” track – Stateline Speedway in Busti, N.Y., which is minutes from his shop and was once owned by his father – but experienced rough nights, finishing 14th (’05) and 15th (’06)…
Won three times in ’06 – at Ohio’s Wayne County, Cayuga County and Pennsy’s Tri-City – and placed third in the points standings… Registered series-high six wins in ’07… Contended for points title throughout second half of 2007 season but settled for career-best second-place finish, 126 points behind champion Steve Francis… His six victories in ’07 came in six different states: Delaware, Michigan, Minnesota, New York, Ohio and Pennsylvania… Won 2007 National Interstate Speedweek points championship (races from July 26-28 at Lawrenceburg, Ind.; Eldora, Ohio; and Sharon, Ohio)…
Had subpar 2008 season, winning just once (at Lincoln, Ill.) and finishing fifth in the points standings. It marked the first time that he did not improve his final points finish from the previous season… Experienced frustrating 2009 season, finishing seventh in points standings. But put together hot streak late in summer after ‘borrowing’ a 2005-vintage Rocket car from western Pennsy racer Chad Valone, winning back-to-back races in Ohio on Aug. 20 at Muskingum County Speedway and Aug. 22 at K-C Raceway (the Buckeye 100 worth $20,000). They were his only WoO LMS wins of ’09… Snapped 62-race winless streak with triumph at Muskingum County… His ’09 campaign came to an early end when he suffered a facial injury (broken orbital bone and other fractures) from a flying clod of clay that struck his helmet during heat action for the WoO LM Showdown event on Nov. 4 at The Dirt Track at Charlotte. He was treated at a local hospital and had to sit out the ensuing World Finals programs… As a contracted driver he received ‘hardship’ points (75 DNQ/show-up points) for both ’09 World Finals shows he missed, allowing him to hang on to seventh in the points standings…
Struggled through the first winless WoO LMS season of his career in 2010, registering just five top-five finishes en route to a personal-worst 10th-place finish in the points standings…. Best finish of 2010 was a third on Aug. 7 in the 100-lap USA Nationals at Wisconsin’s Cedar Lake Speedway… Failed to reach Victory Lane for second straight season in 2011 and managed just five top-five finishes, but top-10s helped him salvage a fifth-place finish in the points standings… Best stretch of ’11 came in early May when he scored back-to-back runner-up finishes in Georgia at Swainsboro Raceway and Needmore Speedway…
Absorbed third straight winless season in 2012, but rebounded with 10 top-five finishes (matching his combined total from ’10 and ’11), including a season-best second-place finish on May 5 at Swainsboro and four third-place runs… Finished fifth in the 2012 points standings – his sixth career top-five placing…
Struggled through another winless campaign in '13, dropping to 9th in the pointsstandings with 5 top-five and 18 top-ten finishes... Best outing 0f '13 was a third=place finish on June 20th at Brighton (ont) Speedway.
Until being sidelined by his facial injury in ‘09, he had entered every WoO LMS event run during the World Racing Group era (2004-present). He enters 2013 having entered 351 of the 353 events contested since ’04, with just three DNQs (March 14, 2004, at Atomic Speedway in Oak Ridge, Tenn.; Nov. 4, 2009, at Charlotte; and Aug. 6, 2011, at Cedar Lake Speedway)… Begins 2013 with 16 career WoO LMS victories – putting him in a three-way tie for seventh on the tour’s win list since 2004 – but riding a 122-race winless streak…
Other Racing History: One of the most decorated drivers on the WoO LM tour, Frank started racing locally as a 16-year-old… Became dominant at tracks near his home, winning Stateline/Eriez circuit Limited Late Model titles from 1983-87 and capturing the Stateline Super Late Model championship in 1989 and ’90… Began following STARS (later Renegade DirtCar) series in ‘90s and ultimately became the first driver to win the regional tour’s championship four years in a row (2000-03)… Was 2001 UMP Florida State LM champion… Won prestigious World 100 at Eldora Speedway in 2004… Other major victories include the Winchester (Va.) 200 (1998); Octoberfest 100 at Hagerstown (Md.) Speedway (1998); Pittsburgher 100 (2001); Dixie Shootout (2001); North-South 100 at Florence Speedway in Union, Ky. (2002); Hillbilly 100 at West Virginia’s Tyler County Speedway (2003); and the Dirt Track World Championship at Ohio’s K-C Raceway (2007)… Captured four features away from WoO LMS in both 2006 and 2007… Was inducted into the National Dirt Late Model Hall of Fame in 2004 in Masters II category… Successful four-year stint with Lester Buildings as his team’s primary sponsor ended following the 2008 season… Won an O’Reilly All-Star Late Model Series event on July 18, 2009, at Lawrenceburg (Ind.) Speedway… Captured three weekly features at Lernerville Speedway in 2010 during off weekends from WoO LMS action… Won three features away from WoO LMS in 2011, including two weekly shows at Lernerville and a rich $13,000 victory in the ULMS Fall Classic on Sept. 25 at Pa.’s McKean County Raceway… Won two features at Lernerville Speedway in 2012…
Interesting Facts: Drove packer trucks around his father’s Stateline Speedway when he was just five years old… Long known as the ‘Shoestring Traveler,’ now carries the nickname ‘Chubzilla.’… His given name is Jerry L. Frank. He picked up the name ‘Chub’ while a slightly chubby youngster – to differentiate him from his father (also named Jerry) – and the moniker stuck… Was featured on the July 2006 documentary, Dirt Track Warriors, that was telecast nationally on the CNN cable network… His racing shop was destroyed in a March 2004 fire, but he went racing days later and rebuilt the garage bigger and better… Celebrated 30 years as a race car driver in 2008 – and amazingly, the flip he rode out in April during the Colossal 100 at The Dirt Track at Charlotte was the first rollover he had experienced in his career…
