Chubzilla Kicks Off ‘06 With Win!

Bear Lake, PA --- The 2006 racing season for Chub Frank, known far and wide by his legion of fans as ‘Chubzilla’, got off to a perfect start on Wednesday evening February 1 when Chubzilla came out victorious in the season opener ‘pre-speedweeks’ event at Golden Isles Speedway in Brunswick, GA. Chubzilla’s win came in a 40-lap UMP sanctioned race that paid $6,000 to win. Chubzilla won driving his Lester Buildings, Corry Rubber, All Star Performance, Corry Laser, Slavic Corporation, Farr MotorSports, Custom Race Engines, Rocket Chassis #1*. Chubzilla will be gunning for the 2006 World of Outlaws Late Model Series championship this season.

“I hope we can keep it going,” stated Chubzilla a day after the win. “We’re 100% even after tonight (Thursday) rained out. But we’re happy with it. The car was good last night. We had a good car here last fall when we came down for the World of Outlaws Late Model Series race and had problems, had to go to the tail and then got wrecked when we going for the top five.”

“So we knew we had a good set up to come back with although we didn’t know what the track would do. We thought it would the same and it was by feature time but it wasn’t as racy as last fall. You never know what you’ll get. But by the feature the set up was good and we’re real happy with the car.”

Chubzilla dominated in his heat race and led every lap of the feature event which was slowed by six cautions although Chubzilla came across the checkers with a substantial advantage over the field.

Chubzilla and team are definitely motivated for the next couple weeks.

“Just starting out with a win, everyone is happy, the crew’s morale is up and everyone is ready to go,” commented Chubzilla. “When you run good it’s easier to make everybody motivated. It’s going to be a long deal, that’s just the start. There are still 14 more races to go the next two and a half weeks so if you can pop off a win it keeps everyone happy and they don’t mind working on the car.”

Up next for Chubzilla will be a Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series race on Friday followed by the World of Outlaws Late Model Series season opener on Saturday, both being held at Golden Isles Speedway. Beginning Monday Chubzilla will compete Monday through Saturday at East Bay Raceway Park for their six-night Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series events followed by six nights (February 13-18) at Volusia Speedway Park for World of Outlaws Late Model Series and UMP races.

Fans of Chubzilla can tune in and follow Chubzilla’s exploits next week when he competes with the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series events at East Bay that will be web cast over the internet each night at 10:00 PM EST at: www.racetalklive.com
