Bear Lake, PA --- Chub
Frank and Chub Frank Racing had a successful weekend with a major
sanction win and his first win of the year in his own Modified. Starting
Monday Chubzilla was back on the road with the Stacker 2 World of Outlaw
Late Model Series in his Lester Building Products, Corry Rubber, All
Star Performance, Corry Laser, Slavic Corporation, Farr MotorSports,
Rocket Chassis Monte Carlo #1.
On Friday night June 24 before a near capacity crowd at Barb Bartley and
Tom Reonigk’s Lernerville Speedway, Inc., Sarver, PA, Chub Frank, for
the second year in-a-row scorched the field taking home the $5,000 top
prize from the $30,000 purse in the Mid Atlantic Racing Series (MACS)
sanctioned event. Former two-time MACS Champion Lynn Geisler and
Chubzilla paced the 27-car field starting for the “Purvis Brothers Turbo
Blue 50” after winning the second heat. As the green waved Chub bolted
into the lead with Geisler; R.J. Conley; defending MACS champion, Rob
Blair and former MACS Champion Mike Blose all in hot contention for the
top spot.
With 15 laps remaining Chubzilla had lapped up to 13th position as he
continued his torrid pace with as many as nine lapped cars between
himself and second running Blair. Chubzilla was conducting a driving
clinic not missing a beat at any corner, as he lapped cars at will and
maintained a comfortable margin of victory over Rob Blair, Mike Balzano,
Lynn Geisler and Bob Close.
Chubzilla is now second in the MACS’ all-time winning category.
On Saturday Chubzilla returned to his home track of Stateline Speedway
in Busti, NY where he competed in not only a dirt Late Model owned by
Chad Valone but he also competed in his own Modified and came home with
the win. Frank won the E-Mod event with his brand new Tobber built E-Mod
then moved from victory lane into his borrowed Super Late Model for that
division’s feature event. In the Super Late Model feature Frank moved
from tenth to third in the event.
Chub Frank stole the lead from Justin Carlson on lap two of the E-Mod
event. At the half way mark Frank led by fifteen car lengths and Ruhlman
had the same lead on Carlson. The yellow flew just after the half way as
Mike Hess spun in turn three allowing the field to close with Frank but
soon after the restart Frank rebuilt his lead and took the popular win.
On Monday June 27 Chubzilla hit the road for a lengthy tour of duty with
the World Of Outlaws Stacker 2® Late Model Series when that band of
travelers ventured to Ransomville Speedway in Ransomville, NY Monday.
During qualifying Chubzilla turned the third fastest time out of the
39-car field and followed that by winning his heat race. During the
feature event Chubzilla, who started third, had a strong run especially
during the latter part of the event.
On lap 56 Chubzilla was able to take third from Billy Moyer and
challenged second running Tim McCreadie when they eventually made
contact causing Chubzilla to spin. Restarting on the tail of the field
Chubzilla charged his way up to 14th when the checkers waved on lap 60.
With a day off to regroup Chubzilla and the Stacker 2 WoO LMS will roll
into Fulton Speedway in Fulton, NY Wednesday June 29th and then to
Bridgeport Speedway in Bridgeport, NJ Thursday, June 30th.
A travel day will get the World of Outlaws Stacker 2® Late Model Series
to Stateline Speedway in Jamestown (Busti), NY Saturday, July 2nd for
the track’s 50th anniversary celebration and a ‘Chubzilla Homecoming’.
Delaware International Speedway in Delmar, DE hosts the series
Wednesday, July 6th followed by separate events at Hagerstown Speedway
in Hagerstown, MD Friday, July 8th and Saturday, July 9th. The long trek
winds up at Sharon Speedway in Hartford, OH Tuesday, July 12th.
