Bear Lake, PA --- This past weekend Chub ‘Chubzilla’ Frank raced his way to victory lane at Wayne County Speedway for his first World of Outlaws Late Model Series win of the year driving his Lester Buildings, Corry Rubber, All Star Performance, Corry Laser, Slavic Corporation, Farr MotorSports, Lake Shore Paving, Custom Race Engines, Rocket Chassis #1*.

Chubzilla’s weekend started at Brushcreek Motorsports Complex in Pebbles, OH where Chubzilla was fast qualifier in time trials and scored a second place finish in his heat race before crossing the finish line sixth in the main event sanctioned by the World of Outlaws Late Model Series.

On Saturday Chubzilla and the team headed north to Wayne County Speedway in Orrville, OH for the Buckeye Classic 50 where Chubzilla qualified seventh fastest in time trials and scored a win in the third heat.

For the Wayne County Speedway main event a large and enthusiastic crowd was on hand to see Chubzilla do it one more time, taking yet another sanctioned win at WCS, something he has been very adept at. During the last seven sanctioned dirt Late Model races at WCS, the man known as Chubzilla has won six of them.

Matt Miller and Rick Eckert led the field to flagman Ed Frederick’s snarling green flag with Miller taking the lead over Eckert, Tim McCreadie, Chubzilla and Dave Hess, Jr. Despite Miller’s early dominance the field was hot on his tail with McCreadie and Frank battling for numerous laps as Clint Smith and Hess did likewise. Throughout the field there were several battles going back and for positions including some pretty hardcore racing laps with Billy Moyer and Ryan Markham as well as McCreadie eventually took the lead before succumbing to Frank’s first and final pass for the lead and then the win on lap 42.

“This is great to finally win a World Of Outlaws race this season”, declared Frank from the winner’s circle. “Tonight was a tire game and we went a little harder than some of the guys. Believe me, I didn’t want any cautions in the last half of the race. Going harder on tires meant we needed long green flag runs. That’s why McCreadie got back by me when we did have that lap 24 restart. Harder tires means they take a little longer to get going. I wasn’t too worried when Tim got by us but I didn’t want anymore cautions. The track was racy. You could run from top to bottom and when the lapped cars got in there it made it fun.”

“I want to dedicate this win to Orry Wirt. His dad, Dave, and I are pretty good friends and my heart goes out to Dave and his family on their loss.”

Orry Wirt, a 15 year-old freshman at nearby Triway High School, passed away April 28 from injuries sustained in an April 2 auto accident. His father, a long time driver at Wayne County Speedway and throughout the Ohio Valley region, was deeply touched by Frank’s words when he joined the winner in victory lane.

“The race track is definitely different than it used to be but it seems to me like it still takes the same tires. The thing is you need to be a little bit tighter but its still racy. All in all the track was nice.”

“I knew Rick (Eckert) and I had the same tires on and I knew that McCreadie and Matt (Miller) would get out front and probably drive off a little bit and we weren’t too worried about that unless we couldn’t reel them in. And once I got past Rick I knew we could reel them in pretty good even though it was in traffic. The lapped traffic wasn’t too bad, I was a little nervous at the end but I wasn’t getting off that bottom. I had a little trouble to get by (Steve) Shaver but he saw me and got out of the way.”

After being interviewed by the print media at his pit after the feature Chubzilla appeared live on the national Race Nite radio show broadcast on Racetalklive.com. Chubzilla was interviewed by Race Nite reporter Keith Koval and Race Nite host Mark Potter.

The World Of Outlaws Late Model Series next travels to Farmer City Raceway in Farmer City, Illinois Friday, May 12 for round 1 of the ‘Battle Of The Borders Weekend’ before the second $10,000 to win – 50 lap main event making up the weekend unfolds Saturday, May 13 at Kamp Motor Speedway in Boswell, Indiana.
