Chubzilla Wraps Up ‘Speedweeks’

Bear Lake, PA --- The 2006 Volusia Speedway Park Winternationals completed their week-long stay with the World of Outlaws Late Model Series and the UMP series sanctioning the events. After a Monday night race cancellation due to cold weather and Chub Frank’s Tuesday night UMP feature win, the driver known as ‘Chubzilla’ completed the week of dirt Late Model racing and leaves Florida sixth in points, a mere 40 points out of first place as the third round of the WoO LMS point battle was completed Saturday evening with Chubzilla driving his Lester Buildings, Corry Rubber, All Star Performance, Corry Laser, Slavic Corporation, Farr MotorSports, Custom Race Engines, Rocket Chassis #1*.

On Wednesday evening for the UMP sanctioned event Chubzilla scored a third in his heat race and a seventh place finish in the feature. Thursday evening was round two in the WoO LMS point chase with Chubzilla starting a distant 27th and finishing 12th. For Friday’s UMP finale a second in his heat race translated into a eighth place finish.

On Saturday night’s World of Outlaws Late Model Series sanctioned ‘Daytona Dodge Chrysler/MOPAR Speed Shop/Valvoline 50’ at Volusia Speedway Park Chubzilla nailed down a second in his heat race and a tenth place finish in the 50-lap main event.

Saturday night’s World of Outlaws Late Model Series finale was captured by the cameras of SPEED and will be broadcast at a later date.

The World of Outlaws Late Model Series will next be in action Friday, March 17 at Baton Rouge Raceway in Baker (Baton Rouge), Louisiana followed by a Saturday, March 18 date at Fast Trax Motorplex in Chatham, Louisiana. Both events mark the first ever appearances by the WoO Late Model Series in the state of Louisiana.

Chubzilla and team will spend the next couple weeks preparing their 2006 arsenal of Rocket Chassis in the all-new Lester Buildings colors. The new graphics and color package, designed by Ron Slavic and John Flinner, is scheduled to debut at the March 17 WoO LMS race at Baton Rouge Raceway ushering in a new era for Chubzilla.
