Scott Bloomquist driving the #0 Miller Brothers Coal/Hawkeye Trucking/Custom Race Engines/Allstar Performance/Hoosier Tire/Sweet Manufacturing Ford Taurus made a last lap maneuver and passed Steve Francis low in turn four at Delaware International Speedway, taking the checkered flag and collecting a $10,000 check for his troubles, Wednesday night in Delmar Delaware.

Dash winner Tim McCreadie in the #39 Sweeteners Plus/A-C Speedworld/Texaco Havoline/Rocket Chassis Chevrolet Monte Carlo started the event by leading the field of 24 high horsepower late models around in the traditional four-wide salute to the fans at Delaware International Speedway.

With McCreadie on the poll, the green flag dropped and the race was on. Coming off turn two of the first lap, Steve Francis in the #15 Valvoline/Mopar/Freeport Recycle Center/Action Auto Mart/Rocket Chassis Dodge Intrepid moved on up in to the lead followed by Bart Hartman, Scott Bloomquist, Chub Frank, and McCreadie slipped back in to 5th. The top seven cars then fell in running nose to tail and by the seventh lap had begun to pull away from the field.

By lap nine Francis began to encounter lap traffic and began to work his way through with Hartman, Bloomquist, and Frank following.

On lap 14, Bloomquist was able take over the second position by passing Hartman in turn two; Bloomquist then began to charge down Francis aiming for the number one position.

Chub Frank in the #1* Corry Rubber Corp/Allstar Performance/Rocket Chassis Chevrolet Monte Carlo soon began flexing his muscle on lap 22 pressuring Hartman for third.

The caution was brought out on lap 25 for the 18D of Jim Bernheisel who was stopped high in turn four.

With Bloomquist at his tail Francis brought the filed around and took the green. Francis was unfazed as he ran hard and quickly pulled a three car-length lead over Bloomquist. Off of the restart Frank continued to work on Hartman but was unable to take his position.

Lap 30 brought the second caution of the night as the #21 J&J Steel/Hawkeye Trucksales.com/Mcarthy One Hour Heating and Air/Banner Valley Hauling Chevrolet Monte Carlo of Billy Moyer was stopped high in turn two.

The top 5 running order remained unchanged as the race resumed. Frank continued to battle it out with Hartman’s #75 Seubert Calf Ranches/Imler's Poultry/ MCB Motorsports/Cornett Engine/Hoosier Tire/Rocket Chassis Gran Prix, but had fallen back two car lengths by lap 34.

With ten laps remaining in the race, Francis and Bloomquist were still nose to tail and it was anyone’s race. Hartman’s high line allowed him to carry enough momentum off the corners to hold his position over Frank who was challenging on the low side.

It appeared the Francis had the race wrapped up, as he was able to maintain his position over the strong running Bloomquist.

Coming out of turns three and four on the last lap, Francis slide high and Bloomquist was close enough on his tail to sneak through the open window and take the lead. Francis chased Bloomquist down the front straight and across the line in an all out drag race, but was unable to regain the lead position as Bloomquist took the checkered flag.

“I couldn’t keep up with him (Francis) running up high, so just hung in there and hoped he made a mistake” remarked an excited Bloomquist in victory lane. Bloomquist went on to state “I have had a great year and won some big races, but it’s the ones like this that are the highlights.”

Second place finisher Francis showed a little disappointment after the main event stating “The car got tighter and tighter every lap, I drove it in there easy on that last lap, but I had no right front tire left and the car just pushed up, it was all over from there.” Francis also made the comment “I have won and lost races that way, it’s just a part of racing.”

Third place finisher Bart Hartman was satisfied with his finish. “The car ran good all night, we loosened up the car and went softer on the tire for the main and it worked out well, it was a good night for the Rocket Chassis house car” remarked Hartman.

After racing Wednesday night in Delmar, Delaware, the World of Outlaws Late Model series and their Dirty Dozen drivers crossed state lines to race at Potomac Speedway in Buds Creek, Maryland.

Darrel Lanigan powered his #29 Lanigan Autosports/Accutex Signs/Cornett/AFCO/GottaRace/Hoosier Tire/Rocket Chassis Ford Taurus to his first ever World of Outlaws Late Model series main event victory, Friday July 25 in Buds Creek, Maryland.

With Lanigan on the pole and Dale McDowell in the #17M Larry Shaw Race Cars/S&H Motorsports/Dover Cylinder Head/Racetek/Petroff Towing/ J&J Steel/New Vision Graphics/Rocket Chassis Pontiac Grand Prix on the outside, the field came around and took the green. It was a side by side any ones guess race between Lanigan and McDowell swapping positions multiple times the first two laps.

By lap three Lanigan had pulled in ahead of McDowell, but McDowell was still pressuring for the lead. Following in behind Lanigan and McDowell was the #00 of Booper Bare and Chub Frank in the 1* Corry Rubber Corp/Allstar Performance/Rocket Chassis Chevrolet Monte Carlo in a battle for third.

Bare was able to hold off the trying Frank until lap eight, when Frank saw the open door and got by Bare. Meanwhile, Lanigan was able open up a three car-length lead over McDowell as they pull away from the field.

The hard charging Frank showed no sign of stopping as he quickly ran up on McDowell and began to challenge for the number two spot on lap 11. After seven laps of trying Frank was able to advance in to second as he got around McDowell on lap 18. Frank quickly ran up on Lanigan trying him on the low side for the lead.

The field was collected again on lap 25 as the yellow flag came out for Jerry Foster, who had spun in turns three and four. The top five running order remained unchanged as the field resumed racing.

Lap 28 showed the 24M of Jeremy Miller, who had worked his way up from the 17th starting position challenging Bare for forth.

By lap 40 Lanigan, Frank, Bare, and Miller began to pull away from the field running nose-to-tail with McDowell trying Frank for second. The top five running order remained unchanged as the cars finished out the race, and Lanigan collected his $10,000 check.

“Every one of the 24 cars that started could have won it tonight if put in the right spot and we were there, starting position played a part in finish” remarked Lanigan after his win.

Second place finisher Chub Frank was comfortable with his finish stating “Our car was good tonight, but Darrel’s was better and it got harder to pass as the race went on.”

Dale McDowell commented on his third place finish sighting “We missed the setup a little and I just needed more traction to run down lower the track, its just racing and some times you get the brakes and some times you don’t.”

The World of Outlaws returned to Hagerstown Speedway Saturday night for yet another action-packed night of racing.

Rick Eckert in the #24 Raye Vest Excavating/Rocket Chassis Ford Taurus had the car to beat, as he delivered yet another outstanding performance by leading all 50 laps of the Star-filled main event on Hagerstown’s 1/2 mile speedway.

Starting from the pole position, Rick Eckert with Donnie Moran on his outside brought the field of 25 cars around to take the green flag in the 50 lap $10,000 to-win main event. Eckert quickly pulled in to the lead and by lap four had pulled a half straightaway lead over the field. Darrell Lanigan, Scott Bloomquist, Donnie Moran, and Dale McDowell wrapped up the top five running order as the race was on.

The racing was intense as the next few laps were filled with McDowell battling with Moran for third, taking it in turn four on lap five, and Davey Johnson fighting with Earl Pearson Jr for fifth on lap six.

Lap seven showed Person passing Bloomquist for forth as Eckert continued to pull away from the field.

McDowell in the #17M Larry Shaw Race Cars/S&H Motorsports/Dover Cylinder Head/Racetek/Petroff Towing/ J&J Steel/New Vision Graphics/Rocket Chassis Pontiac Grand Prix looked as if he was going to take second from Lanigan on lap 10 but car problems forced him to pull in the pits along the back straight.

Lanigan was able to hold on to second until lap 14 when he was passed by the hard charging Pearson at line. Pearson looked to have something for Eckert, as he was coming on strong and appearing to be gaining on Eckert each lap.

Lap 19 looked to be the break Pearson needed as the yellow was brought out for the #12 of Rick Aukland, who was stopped on the front chute. Both Aukland and Bloomquist went to the pits under the yellow for a tire change.

Eckert was able to maintain his lead off of the Delaware restart as Pearson fell in behind him running nose to tail with the 24 car. By lap 25 Eckert had pulled a two car length lead over Pearson.

Lap 30 showed Eckert building a comfortable lead and Pearson, Moran, Schlieper, Francis, and Gary Stuhler pulling away from the field. Their lead was shortened as the field was collected yet again on lap 33, as the yellow was brought out for the 1* of Chub Frank who slowing in turn two.

The restart worked well for Johnson, as he quickly moved in to third and began to work on Pearson for 2nd. The restart also proved beneficial for Stuhler, as he moved in to forth taking the position from Schlieper.

Stuhler continued his charge, taking third from Johnson on lap 35 and second from Pearson. It was then that local racing hero Gary Stuhler had his sights set on race leader Rick Eckert.

With ten laps remaining it was anybodies race as Eckert and Stuhler were running nose to tail and Stuhler was knocking on Eckert’s back door in every turn. Stuhler then made a wild attempt to pass Eckert on lap 45. Stuhler came strong off of turn four and pulled along side of Eckert down the front strait, but was unable to make the pass and Eckert pulled away as both cars went through turns two and three.

Rick Eckert was able to hold on to the lead, taking the checkered flag and collecting a $10,000 check for his troubles.

“The car was good all race long, I changed my line and things just got better for us” remarked Eckert after his dominating. Eckert went on to say “we haven’t been running as well as we would like lately, we finished sixth the last two nights, it just feels good to be back track.”

Stuhler, who had worked his way on to the podium from a tenth place starting position, was happy with his second place. “I struggled in the beginning, but then found the car ran strong down low and we started hooking up” remarked Stuhler. “You just have to be on your toes when you run with these guys” noted Stuhler.

Third place finisher Davey Johnson is no stranger to the Outlaws as he already has two WoO feature wins under his belt this season. Johnson accredited his finish and good fortune this season to his team and sponsors Reliable Painting, Malcuit Race Engines, and American Racer.
