“ChubZilla visits Maryland”

Bear Lake, PA – After a one-week break, Chub and the Renegade DirtCar Racing Series returned to action Friday with the running of the $10,000 to win "56th Anniversary/22nd Annual Stanley Schetrompf Memorial 50" at Frank Plessinger's Hagerstown Speedway in Hagerstown, MD. Friday's stop was the first 2003 appearance of Chub and the Renegade DirtCar Racing Series to Hagerstown Speedway after being rained out April 26 for the "Schetrompf Memorial".
 
 Chub qualified his Corry Rubber, Corry Laser, Nystrom's Auto Sales, Draime Racing Engines, Rocket Chassis, Pierotti Motorsports, Farr MotorSports Chevrolet Monte Carlo #1 in 6th out of over 56 drivers that were entered for the "56th Anniversary/22nd Annual Stanley Schetrompf Memorial 50" that put him in the 1st of six heat races. Chub was running 2nd when he broke a right rear brake line and lost his brakes and had to pit, Boom Briggs quickly blocked of the brake line and Chub returned to the heat race at the end and finished in 6th. Chub had to run the 1st B-main, the crew quickly made repairs to the 1* and Chub won the first of 2 B-mains and transferred into the main event starting 19th, Chub quickly worked his way thru traffic and worked his way up to 6th and finished in that position.

Then on Saturday Chub stayed over at Hagerstown to race for the Xtreme DirtCar Series event the $10,000-to-win 8th Annual Maryland Silver Cup Nationals 50 at Hagerstown Speedway in Hagerstown, MD.

 

Chub qualified the 1* car known as Dixie for the Xtreme series in 10th with 44 registered cars on hand to race for the $10,000 dollars. Chubs qualifying time put him in the second heat race starting in 3rd starting spot where he would finish in 3rd behind Dale McDowell & Tom Myers. That transferred him into the main event starting in 10th. Chubzilla worked his way thru traffic running low then high on the cushion leaving no doubt in anyones mind why his nick name is now Chubzilla and raced up to 2nd and finished in 2nd in tonight’s 8th Annual Maryland Silver Cup Nationals 50.
