Chub Extends Point Lead at Thunder Valley

July, 6th 2002- Bear Lake, Pa

The 1* team made the 3½ hour trip to Thunder Valley Raceway in Central City, PA. where owners Willie and Deanna Will presented the biggest event in Thunder Valley Raceway history Friday and Saturday with the running of the $12,000 to win "Ol' Glory 100" at their beautiful semi-banked 1/2 mile track and facility. A purse in excess of $53,000 was posted for the two-day event, which marks only the second time that the Renegade DirtCar Racing Series has competed at Thunder Valley Raceway.

Chub the defending and 2 time Renegade DirtCar Racing champion and the 1* team unloaded at Thunder Valley Raceway and quickly out qualified the entire field of 39 cars by setting fast time in the Carrera Challenge the clock time trials for tonight's event at the 1/2 mile race track and that put Chub in the first heat race starting in starting 4th, Chub went on to win the first heat race over Scott Rhodes transferring him to the dash. He then lined up in the 6th position in the 6-lap dash and finished 5th Scott Haus won, John Mason 2nd, Mike Balzano 3rd, Bob Salathe 4th. Chub lined up the Corry Rubber, Corry Laser, Nystrom's Auto Sales, Draime Racing Engines, Rocket Chassis, Pierotti Motorsports, Farr MotorSports, Chevrolet Monte Carlo for tonight's 100 lap main event in 5th in front of a packed house. Chub started his charge to the front immediately for the event and took 3rd away from Mike Balzano on the 10th lap and went after Haus who was running second with  Mason leading, on lap 21 Mason dropped from the event with a broken suspension. Haus was now leading with Chub in second at the 50 lap mark they had a fuel stop and the 1* crew noticed a right rear tire was leaking air on the 1* and notified Chub who was getting strapped back in the car for the remainder of the event. Chub using everything he knew that would build tire heat and air pressure in the leaking tire kept the 1* in the event for the remainder of the event and finished 2nd with only 4lbs of air in the right rear tire. Chub extended his 2002 defense of his Renegade DirtCar Racing championship by 10 more points over Mike Balzano. The finish was 1St Scott Haus, 2nd Chub Frank, 3rd Mike Balzano, 4th Todd Andrews, 5th Tom Myers, 6th Jeremy Miller, 7th Steve Shaver, 8th Bob Salathe, 9th Rob Blair, and 10th Scott Rhodes.
