Chub Returns to Portsmouth Speedway

Chub and the team headed to Portsmouth Raceway Park in Portsmouth, Ohio to a race track Chub does pretty good at the Portsmouth facility, the two-time defending Renegade DirtCar Racing Series champion Chub Frank leads the winners list at Portsmouth with five previous victories. The Renegade DirtCar Racing Series is set to make their first 2002 appearance of the season at Portsmouth for the "7th Annual Glockner Firecracker 100". P.R.P. track owners Boone, Joyce and Tim Coleman along with promoter Max Warnock have posted a $41,000 purse for the event paying $10,000 to the winner. In 1999 Chub took the win. Chub and the team unloaded the Corry Rubber, Corry Laser, Nystrom's Auto Sales, Draime Racing Engines, Rocket Chassis, Pierotti Motorsports, Farr MotorSports, Chevrolet Monte Carlo for tonight's race, the 2002 Renegade point chase was getting tighter. Chub qualified in 4th out of 42 cars for the "7th Annual Glockner Firecracker 100" signed in to compete. Then he lined up in the 4th heat and finished 2nd to Matt Miller who won the heat race. That put Chub in the Isky dash starting 3rd and he finished it in 3rd place, now he moves on to tonight's feature event and starts in 3rd position. The track was extremely dry which meant passing was going to be a premium during the 100 lap feature so it's get in line as the entire field preferred to run on the bottom which put down an excessive amount of rubber on the racing surface. Chub rode home in 4th position with Mike Balzano winning tonight's event Steve Lucas finished in 2nd Steve Shaver was 3rd Chub 4th & Darrell Lanigan finished in 5th. Davey Johnson dropped out of the race early and recorded a 22nd place finish that now gives the point's lead to Chub, this looks as if the points are going to be a real battle this year between the top 5 or 6 teams.
