Chub
and crew unloaded the 1* Corry Rubber Corporation, Corry Laser
Technology, Nystrom’s Auto Sales, Rocket Chassis, Paul & Pudge
Pierotti Motorsports car that had 1 race on it for tonight’s event and qualified it in 6th
out of 32 cars. In Chub’s heat race Chub was leading it with 2
laps to go when he suffered a flat tire, Chub pitted and the crew
changed it when Chub returned to the track the field had all ready
restarted and Chub tagged the tail of the field and worked his way back
to 4th place and that was good enough to put him in the dash
for tonight’s feature where he finished 3rd which puts him
in the 3rd starting position behind Davey Johnson and Booper
Bare. At the start of tonight’s feature Johnson led the first 5 laps with Bare and Chub in tow. Booper passed Johnson on the 6th lap and Chub got by Johnson for 2nd on the 13th lap Bare went on to lead until the 22nd circuit when Chub and Bare entered lapped traffic Bare went to the top and Chub went to the bottom where he took over the lead on lap 24 a yellow flag flew which left an open track in front of Chub and he went on to win the feature tonight that paid A $10,000 first place prize, from the $42,000 purse at the semi-banked 1/2 mile racing facility. "We finally got one,” Stated the very happy
winner. "Actually, this is a little early for us. Usually we don't
start winning Renegade DirtCar Series races until June or July",
chuckled Chub. "The lapped traffic worked great for me but not for
Booper. When we got into the rear of the field in turn three Booper had
to choose real quick whether to go high or low. When he went outside the
only thing I could do was squeeze it between the slower car and the
inside fence. Luckily, it worked out for us". Finish Current 2002 Renegade Points 1.
