Chub and The Renegade DirtCar Racing Series made their only 2002
appearance of the season to Pittsburgh's Pennsylvania Motor Speedway
just outside of Pittsburgh, PA for the running of the "14th Annual
Pittsburgher 100", presented by Miley Motorsports and sanctioned by
The Renegade DirtCar Racing Series. You can visit Pittsburgh's

Chub the defending champion of last year's event entered 2 cars in this
year's Pittsburgher 100 with Rick (Boom) Briggs, Chub's crew chief
driving the 1* backup car. The two jumped from car to car all night
Friday in practice to prepare for qualifying on Saturday when Boom out
timed Chub in qualifying the entire team had something to joke with Chub
about all weekend. Boom ended up qualifying 27th & Chub 40th out of
over 74 cars that took to the Dirt's Monster Half-Mile track for time
trials. That put Boom in the 3rd heat starting in 5th but he didn't
finish the heat race. Chub lined up in the 4th heat starting in 7th
where he finished in 2nd transferring him into the Pittsburgher 100
starting 14th. On Sunday Boom lined up The Corry Rubber, Corry Laser,
Nystrom's Auto Sales, Draime Racing Engines, Rocket Chassis, Pierotti
Motorsports, Farr MotorSports, 1*B Chevrolet Monte Carlo last in the
first b-main and made 1 lap and pulled in and parked it and began to get
Chub's 1* ready for the 100 lap event. Chub started the Pittsburgher 100
in 14th and began his move towards the front, at the ½ way fuel stop
Chub was now in 9th and still moving towards the front, at the 75th lap
mark Chub was now in 4th and pressuring 3rd place John Flinner hard for
that position. Chub brought The Corry Rubber, Corry Laser, Nystrom's
Auto Sales, Draime Racing Engines, Rocket Chassis, Pierotti Motorsports,
Farr MotorSports, Chevrolet Monte Carlo home in 4th extending his point
lead by 410 on Mike Balzano for the 2002 championship.
The top 10 in the Pittsburgher were 1st Rick Aukland, 2nd Rick Eckert,
3rd John Flinner, 4th Chub Frank, 5th Bart Hartman, 6th Jeremy Miller,
7th Tim Hitt, 8th Steve Francis, 9th Mike Balzano and 10th Keith
Barbara.
