September 29, 2002

After being delayed a day by Rain from tropical storm Isadora Chub and The Renegade DirtCar Racing Series made their only 2002 appearance of the season to Winchester Speedway in Winchester, VA. for the running of the "Winchester 200", as owner/promoter Doug Timmons and general manager Dave Wilt present the "Winchester 200" at their semi-banked 3/8ths mile dirt oval. The annual event, sponsored by Shag's Lumber and Cam 2 Racing Gasoline sanctioned by The Renegade DirtCar Racing Series. You can visit Winchester Speedway's web site at www.winchestervaspeedway.com.

The 2 time defending Renegade DirtCar Racing Series Champion headed to Winchester Speedway with only one thing on his mind and that's winning the "Winchester 200," with points races winding down and having a 410 point lead Chub refuses to points race and races every race to win. Chub drew a late qualifying spot and timed in 17th out of 56 drivers trying to make the main event. Chub started 5th in the 1st heat and finished 2nd to Todd Andrews that starts Chub in the 11th position in the "Winchester 200" On Sunday Chub lined up The Corry Rubber, Corry Laser, Nystrom's Auto Sales, Draime Racing Engines, Rocket Chassis, Pierotti Motorsports, Farr MotorSports, Chevrolet Monte Carlo in 11th for the 100 lap event. Chub knew right from the start that it was going to be very difficult as Winchester is always slick and very hard to pass on.  He began moving up to 8th by lap 26th and brought the 1* home in 8th to record his 40th top ten finish in 55 races. The top 10 in the "Winchester 200" were 1st Todd Andrews, 2nd Steve Shaver, 3rd Rob Blair, 4th Jeremy  Miller, 5th Bob Close, 6th Booper Bare, 7th Rodney Franklin, 8th Chub Frank, 9th Andy Anderson and 10th Mike Balzano.

All Chub has to do in the 2 remaining Renegade DirtCar Racing Series points races is show up and start the race to clinch his 3rd Renegade DirtCar Racing Series Championship for the 2002. Chub has a provisional starting spot by points to start every race. Out of the 19 previous years only one other driver has ever won 3 Renegade (STARS) DirtCar Series Championships in a row Steve Francis in 1996 - 1998.
